Line of Thoughts

The economy is falling apart.  Credibility that this administration can handle the current crisis is fading by the day.  What does congress set its eyes on?  Why how college football picks the number one.  Stupid.

You use a band aid on 99% of wounds and get stitches if it is too bad.  You use your eraser when you mis-write and only replace the entire sheet when there are too many changes.  So what do you do if you are the city of Seattle facing 8+ inches of snow in a once in a decade snow stom?  WHy not put salt down of course.  The politicians of Seattle have decided to put their citizens at risk in order to make an environmental stand that is hallow in its meaning.  Nice way to play with peoples lives Seattle.

In the February 2009 edition “The Ring” I am sure Editor-in-Cheif Nigel Collins had no intention of being controversial when he closed out his editorial by stating the following: “Because it doesn’t matter whether it’s a pencil, telegraph, typewriter, or a computer, fundamentally, the message will always be more important then the medium.” Mr. Collins I beg to differ. Depending on the medium the message is often irrelevant and always shaped. Just look at Facebook. Is what we are saying (message) as important as the community or method of communication we are all partaking in? When I give a presentation today at work it is completely different then 10 years ago. Is the primary message different? No. But the way people look at the data and even what they see as important and how they process the information is different.

So which comes first the egg or the chicken? The medium or the message? I claim it is the medium.

I am not sure what it is but this election cycle has been more painful then most.  Perhaps it is the fact that you can’t even play a video game without seeing campaign ads.  Or maybe it is the fact that the recorded voice ads are so prevalent that I have chosen not to answer my phone may evenings in the last 2 weeks.

While trying to find news not related to politics today (anything!) I cam across this really cool story about a Salmon carcass found in California.  The Salmon was 85 pounds and 4 feet long.  Not to mention it is just really, really cool looking.  Regardless of the politics, regardless of the winners and losers and regardless of my 401K balance there are still very cool things out there to think about and see if we take a step back (or forward).

It is about time but Detroit’s embattled Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick finally resigned Thursday.  It is too bad this took most of the year to finish.  I am sure Detroit will be able to finally start healing now.

There are few more sordid political stories unraveling these days then that of Detroit Mayer Kwame Kilpatrick and his ongoing legal issues stemming from lying about the sexual relationship he was having with an aid and the ramifications this had on a multimillion dollar city settlement.

Now the Hip Hop Mayor of Detroit is getting the privilege of being locked up in jail overnight per a Judges order.  This all stemmed from Kwame taking a trip to Canada without first informing the court.

 When will this all end?  Only when Kwame decides to put the city and state first and resigns.

What a bore.  The heavyweight bout 7/12/08 between Wladimir Klitschko and Tony Thompson was so tedious that the 11th round knockout barely caught my attention.  This is exactly what is making this division so unaproachable to American fight fans.  You have the best heavy weight out there (Wladimir Klitschko) fighting inconsistently and without apparrent passion.  Also the opponents are uninspring……Sultan, Tony?  The division needs a hard punching, chance taker who talks the talk but can back it up as well.  

Whatever happens please don’t let the next fight for Wladimir be with John Ruiz.  That bout would be so boring that I doubt I would ever be able to watch another bout.

This is beyond words.  A teacher in Florida had her class vote on whether a five year old boy with autism should remain in the class or not.  The boy was voted out by a 14 to 2 margin.  The teacher then had the class describe what they did not like about the boy and they came up with terms such as disgusting.

The boy spent the rest of the day in the nurses office and the parents were not even notified until  the mother came to pick up the child.  Understandably the child is disturbed about the incident and the mother has not had him return to class.

his teacher should be ashamed and no longer a teacher.  The district will not comment yet even though the facts of the incident are not being disputed.  Shame…shame…shame.

This type of behavior is not acceptable and no one should put up with this.  The teachers name is  Wendy Portillo of Morningside Elementery School in Port St. Lucie Florida.

Just a quick note.  I had to post this incredible photo.  Take a look at the linked photo.  A 12 foot python swallowed a 6 foot alligator.  The alligator apparently scratched the belly of the python from the inside rupturing its stomach.  What a trip!

I never intended to post personal things on this blog.  Rather I intended to comment on those news stories or events that interested me and that I felt I wanted to share my perspective on.  Well I guess that changes here.  I am really stressed and full of tension lately.  Between changes moving back home, job changes, home upkeep, kid stresses, medical issues (family) and a host of un-named issues I feel like bursting.

I saw this yesterday and think it might be a perfect stress reliever.

Tension Toy, Pop, Pop, Pop!

What relieves stress more then popping packing bubbles?  This digital replacement sounds like a blast.  Leave it to our good friends in Japan to come up with something like this.  I may consider getting one of these.  I can’t see that they are imported in the USA yet but Ebay has them online available.  They are a bit pricey on Ebay though.

Either way a fascinating stress reliever/toy.
